Let’s start by defining what being a digital nomad really means. The term digital nomad is used as a descriptor for many different types of location independent workers from people who have passive income streams to those who work in the gig economy as they move about. You can learn more about the location independent movement here and get an in-depth look at how modern nomads came to be.

If where you live is so expensive that most of your salary goes towards maintaining your fixed costs, you might consider reducing them and saving up some money so you can move to a digital nomad hub like Chiang Mai in Thailand where your money goes a lot further. Here it will be a lot easier to learn all the skills that you’re going to need to work online because you’ll be surrounded by other digital nomads. You could even rent out your apartment at home and make some passive income that way.

How do I check traffic to a website

So many great tips! There are a couple of things I’ve implemented recently to try and boost traffic. One is to make a pdf version of my post that people can download. It’s a great way to build a list:) Another way is to make a podcast out of my post. I can then take a snippet of it and place it on my Facebook page as well as syndicate it. As far as video I’ve started to create a video with just a few key points from the post. The suggestion about going back to past articles is a tip I am definitely going to use especially since long-form content is so important. Thanks!

Your debt and expenses: If you're in serious debt, you'll find it hard to become a digital nomad. The burden on your shoulders is too high and if you're stuck without income for a week or months, you'll struggle to keep your head above water. You need to handle your debt first. Pay it down by doubling the minimum payments on the highest interest rates loans or credit cards until they're paid off, then moving onto the next ones.

And then I begin my very calming reminder of why we wait 72 hours and $1000 before making ANY decisions about the funnel. By the way, if you haven’t listened to my podcast episode called “In Defense of my Controversial Facebook Ad Advice”  – you should listen. It goes into detail about my advice, why I give it, and what it produces when you do it that way.

However, this isn't about some simple vacation . This isn't about taking a temporary reprieve from your obligations and setting out for a few days or even a few weeks. True freedom resides in being able to travel the world by becoming a digital nomad, having no boundaries or borders to abide to, while being able to live and work from anywhere in the world. To most, that is the ultimate goal -- the pinnacle in life.
Great article. My site has been up for several years now but I rebranded and switched from Blogger to WordPress about a year ago because I was told the reason why my traffic is so low is because I was using the wrong platform. I still haven’t seen an increase in my traffic and am very frustrated. I write in the health, fitness and parenting niche and I have over 30 experts that write for me, but I still don’t have the page views I would like. My paychecks are small and I am very frustrated. How do I find out what influencers in my niche are talking about and what they would like to share? I read tons of blogs, but most of them just review products or write about their kids, not a whole lot of similar articles. Where do I begin to find sharable content in my niche?

When you live abroad, It’s crucial to have multiple backup plans in case of any emergencies. Nothing really ever works out the way it’s supposed to. Things happen. What if your truck breaks down? Or what if you get stuck in a foreign country with no backup plan? What’s your plan B and C? You need to set these processes in place to handle the inevitable bumps in the road.

The truth? We spend a lot of our time, energy and financial resources paying for that which we've already acquired. And why not? We're living the American Dream, aren't we? Get it now and pay for it later. That's always been the motto. However, it's that mentality that's driven a large part of the population into a state of compliance and complacency, unable to extricate themselves from the shackles of debt and their 9-to-5 obligations
I always had a passion for travel, but that would not be the main reason for being digital nomadic. I currently have an office job thats getting me nowhere and not allowing me to build new skills (we’ve been under a freeze for 10 years) so if there’s no room for advancement, there’s no point in me being there. My salary is not high enough to stay afloat, and I already have established other streams of income, including freelance writing. I have a travel blog which I started about 6 months ago, and have worked on monetizing it with Google adsense and affiliate links. I have submitted some of my recent travel articles to some magazines, and hopefully they will get published. Eventually I hope to be able to take up travel writing/blogging full time and leave that dead-end office job!

So by February of 2020 I'll have 15k saved up. My plan is to spend February through May in Mexico. This whole time I will be focusing on a few websites I'd like to build, learning Spanish, and surfing. And I'll do a little exploring on the weekends. From May to November I want to be in SE Asia (Bali and Thailand most likely). Here I'll be continuing web development, learning a new language and surfing. And of course some exploring when time permits.

Your website's landing page is the first impression potential customers will instantly have of your business. Therefore, take time to make sure that it looks great. A good landing page will also encourage visitors to sign up for some sort of list, or subscribe to the website. This gives you that all-important contact information, which becomes your first line of communication.
My company has been working on a large link building project. We’ve already performed extensive keyword research and link analysis and now we’re considering executing an email outreach campaign. However, all the content we’ve created up until this point is geared more towards our target audience as opposed to the key influencers of our target audience. Do you think it would be worth it to try to build backlinks to our existing content or are we better off creating new content that directly appeals to the influencers of our target audience?

What is the meaning of sales funnel

Firstly, a disclaimer – don’t spam Reddit and other similar sites hoping to “hit the jackpot” of referral traffic, because it’s not going to happen. Members of communities like Reddit are extraordinarily savvy to spam disguised as legitimate links, but every now and again, it doesn’t hurt to submit links that these audiences will find genuinely useful. Choose a relevant subreddit, submit your content, then watch the traffic pour in.
For example, when a customer finds you organically through a Google search for example, that means you have some element of authority. When you have authority, prospects are more likely to enter into your funnel because they know that if they found you relevantly, that whatever it is that you're providing must be of a great value. That's just the nature of SEO and organic search.

Yet, unlike most, Kepnes actually stuck it out. He kept at it. And slowly but surely, he built a following over time, and garnered enormous amounts of interest from people looking to engage in the budget travel and digital nomad lifestyle. He found his calling, created numerous best-selling guidebooks, and built a massive platform in the process. Not many people can claim that.

Finally, don’t forget the two most important things in copy which are scarcity in urgency. So whether it’s a limitation of time a limitation of quantity or a limitation on price, you want to try to hit at least one if not all three of those different types of urgency and scarcity. People need a reason to act so give them one. So whether it’s the price goes up, the bonuses expire, enrollment goes away or there’s only 10 or 15 people allowed, try to find the urgency and scarcity and make it believable.

You aren’t going to get very far if you don’t know who your readers are and you’re not making an effort to communicate with them on a more personal level. Setting up a sign-up in your posts and on your site for a newsletter is one of the most powerful ways to keep your readers excited about the work you’re doing. Consider using a tool to manage your lists as well, like ConvertKit.
Develop the right set of skills that you can use to work online. You don't need to start a blog. In fact, doing that will involves years of hard work. But you can write for others or find any other kind of online work through sites like Upwork and Fiverr. In fact, there are numerous ways you can make money online, no matter where you might be traveling to.
Hi Brian, I’m so glad I found Backlinko! I’m downloading all the free guides you’re offering and taking notes. I started a blog last year, and I’ll just call it my “learning blog.” You help me understand that I need to change how I think about content creation (think keyword and topic, research it, THEN create content). So that will be the first strategy I implement for the new blog I plan on launching in the fall.
The first thing that we need to get out of the way is that everyone reading this post will be in a slightly different position. Many of you will probably already have the right skills but just need to do a better job of selling them, others might not even have an online skill at all. So there really isn’t just one solution that will work for everyone.
Great content. Although I disagree with ‘the best times to post’ section. It is important to understand your audience. For example, if your brand/business is in high school, there will be low engagement until 2-5 when they are out of school. I highly suggest using instagram analytics (a subsidiary of facebook analytics) which gives you all of the details on when your followers are active. https://www.facebook.com/help/788388387972460

Holy Engagement! This was an awesome post, full of great info… and then I realized that 3/4 of the actual page was comments… which is even better for shares, SEO and overall engagement. I was lucky enough to attend an event where Neil Patel was giving some great blogging training and a lot of what you covered was there. https://www.thatbloggingthing.com/69-blogging-secrets-i-stole-from-neil-patel/ The simple fact that you comment back is awesome.

Paying for things that don’t greatly impact your life is never ideal. That’s why you need to get rid of all the expenses that you won’t need living as a digital nomad. Things like gym memberships, subscriptions, and debt are all expenses that’ll bog you down on the road. And if you’re a freelancer, they’ll be even more of a burden because you might experience some periods of inconsistent income. Getting rid of these expenses and paying off debt will allow you to fully focus on your work and travels.

So, Brie, she is in my mastermind and she built a funnel sales funnel. A webinar funnel that leads to her program that she’s selling called Cashflow Day. It’s about a $300 program and she’s been struggling with feeling like is it working, is it not working? And it’s funny because I keep telling her it’s working, but for some reason, she didn’t believe me.

As good as it sounds to travel the world and live in amazing places, you also need to keep in mind that this lifestyle is not going to last forever! I’m starting to see a trend of digital nomads returning to their home countries. Even those that have lived and loved the lifestyle for many years now. Some people work and travel for 6 months, others for 10 years but none of us will do it forever. Keep this in mind before you spend all of your time and energy taking this path.
